Nerde tasa duymadan yaşadığım o günler
Bereketin nerde Rabbim, rahmetin nerde
Çavdar ekmeği yenen kerpiç evlerde
Sorulan ben olurum.
Kimse duymaz çilesini tütmeyen ocakların
Tanrım ne olursun yüzümüze bak.
Dolaşır sokaklarda dilenciler aç çıplak
Yorulan ben olurum.
Düşmez bir damla yağmur, kavrulur toprak
Ve çıplak ayaklar basamaz yere.
Dudakları susuzluktan şerha şerha bin kere
Yarılan ben olurum.
Ve bütün yetimlerin yüreği bende sızlar
Ağlar içimde her akşam isimsiz anasızlar
Oyuncaksız, salıncaksız, kucaksız çocuklara
Sarılan ben olurum.
Kalkmaz karanlıklar üzerimizden
Ölüm kol gezer her yerde.
Ve kurşunlar sıkılır uzak köylerde
Vurulan ben olurum.
Ezanlar yükselir sonra minarelerden
Bütün camilerde sabır, el-pençe divan durur.
Secdeye varır alınlar, Kur'an okunur
Durulan ben olurum
