Ordu, kuzeyinde Karadeniz, doğusunda Giresun, batısında Samsun, güneyinde Sivas ve Tokat illeriyle çevrilidir.



Genel olarak dağlık olan Ordu Ilinin önemli dağları Canik ve Karadeniz Dağlarıdır. Dağlar kıyıya paralel uzanır. Batıdan doğuya doğru yükseklikleri artan bu dağlar, akarsular tarafından kesilerek derin vadiler veya yaylalar meydana getirmişlerdir. Bu yaylalarda yüksek tepeler bulunur.



Ordu'da tipik bir Karadeniz iklimi hakimdir. Kışlar serin, yazlar ılık geçer. Yılın hemen hemen bütün aylarında yağış vardır.
