Ortalama yüksekliğin 2500 metre olduğu Bartın'da, sahilden iç kısma doğru göreceli yükseltilerden Küre dağları en önemlisidir. Bartın'a ismini veren Bartın nehri (Parthenious) 14 kilometre uzunluktadır. Uluyayla, Ardıç, Kalkanlı ve Zoni (Arıt) ilin önemli yaylalarıdır.

Bartın'ın yüzde 46'sını ormanlar oluşturur. Bartın'da kışları yağışlı, yazları ılıman geçen Karadeniz iklimi hüküm sürmektedir.
