Sultanhisar ilçesinin kuzeyindeki Malgaç Dağı eteklerinde zeytin bahçeleriyle dolu yamaçlara kurulmuş Nysxa (Nisa) antik kentinin tarihinin kaynağı, coğrafyacı Strabon'dur.
Sel yatağından dolayı iki kısımdan oluşan kent Atymbra isimli eski bir ;yerleşmenin üzerine Selekvos Kralı I. Antiochus tarafından kurulmuş ve kralın eşinin adını almıştır.

Nyxsa'da yetişmiş olan Aristodem'in kurduğu iki katlı kütüphane, Hellenistik çağa ait su deposu, Roma dönemine ait stadyum ve köprü, halk meclisi ve Acharaka yolu üzerindeki şehir nekropolü görülebilecek başlıca yapı kalıntılarıdır.
