Âişe radıyallahu anhâ anlatıyor:

Hz. Peygamber sallallahu aleyhi ve sellem, gece ayakları Şişinceye kadar namaz kılardı. Ona,

- "Ey Allah´ın Elçisi! Neden kendini bu kadar yoruyorsun? Oysa Allah senin geçmiş ve gelecek hatalarını bağışlamıştır" dedim. Bana şu cevabı verdi:

- "Âişe! Şükreden bir kul olmayayım mı?"

Müslim, Münâfikîn 79-81. Ayrıca bk. Buhârî, Teheccüd 6, Tefsîr 48/2, Rikak 20; Tirmizî, Salât 187; Nesâî, Kıyâmü´l-leyl 17; Ibni Mâce, Ikame200
