Kanûnî Sultan Süleyman 46 yıl saltanatta kaldı. Babası Yavuz Sultan Selim'den 6.557.000 km kare olarak devraldığı Osmanlı topraklarını 14.893.000 km kareye çıkardı. Kanûnî Sultan Süleyman döneminde imar faaliyetleri devam etti ve ilk iş olarak babası Yavuz Sultan Selim tarafından temelleri atılan Istanbul Sultan Selim Camii'ni tamamladı.

Bunun dışında yaptırdığı eserlerden bazıları şunlardır;
Gebze'de Çoban Mustafa Paşa Camii ve Külliyesi,
Afyon Sincanlı Sinan Paşa Camii,
Bozöyük Kasım Paşa Camii.
